The Beginner Irish Set Dancing class at Harrington's will finish up on Monday, September 14th, with the Corofin, another of the basic sets. We have done one new set each Monday night (7:30 - 9PM) with a small group of new dancers, eight sets in all. It has been a lot of fun and very rewarding. Some of the dancers will continue in the set dancing classes that will be starting up soon for the fall season, such as the Danvers class starting on Thursday, September 10th. We welcome all the new dancers to join the Wednesday night sessions upstairs at Harrington's. Frank & Eileen

The Harrington's set dancers will be learning (or re-learning) The Newport Set over the next few weeks. This is the "new" set done at the beginning of each session from 7:30 to 7:45. PJ will call and provide instructions staring with the first figure on Wednesday, August 5th. Notes and links to videos are available in the "Notes" section (see tab in the menu above); click the Notes tab, it should open to the Notes Home page, and select Newport Set from the alphabetical list of sets.

PJ will be teaching The Fermanagh Set at Harrington's starting Wednesday, July 8th at 7:30PM. At the beginning of the session, we take the first 15 minutes or so to present a new or unfamiliar set, usually a new figure each week. It helps to add variety to the dance schedule, as once we have learned the sets, we work them into the routine. Links to the study notes (Set Dancing News) and demonstration videos from a class in Fairfax City, Virginia (setdancer1 on YouTube) are below for anyone who wants to follow along.

See Harrington's-Wakefield Set Dancers to get on the Harrington's set dancing mailing list. Email notifications are sent to members regarding specific sets planned for which days. Also, you will be notified if, for any reason, we have an unplanned cancellation - which would normally be due only to very inclement weather or a last-minute booking for Harrington's function room.
