Sally Harney's Tuesday night set dancing class at the Canadian American Club in Watertown is winding down; the last class is Tuesday, May 12th (7:30 start time). Sally will be teaching/reviewing The Newport Set - she reportedly has an inside scoop on the sets Matt Cunningham's ceili band will be playing there the following Tuesday, May 19th, (7:30 start time also) and The Newport Set will be among them .
Eileen Dugal has been teaching The Boyne Set in Danvers. I was there last Thursday night (class starts at 7PM) and enjoyed the set, as this is one I hadn't done yet. There will be classes every Thursday up to the Year End Ceili, scheduled for Thursday, June 25th (7PM). That's always a good time.
Although these and other classes stop for the summer break, at least two locations run year round.
Set dancing upstairs at Harrington's in Wakefield runs year round, Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:30 PM, except for the month of December. PJ Curran is now teaching/calling a figure of a new set every week from 7:30 to 7:45 - yes, that's 15 minutes to learn a new figure! Some are easier than others. Frank then keeps the music flowing and the dancers on the floor with familiar and fun sets.
Friday night classes in Quincy continue all summer with Sheila Berry and Ronny at the Wollaston Congregational Church, 48 Winthrop Avenue, Wollaston. Sheila and Ronny always make you feel welcome there. It's a great night out.
